It can be hard knowing what to look for in an HVAC company. There may be companies everywhere, but they are definitely not all created equal. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you are looking for the right HVAC company for you!
Licenses and Insurance- This is a huge one. An HVAC system is a huge investment, and even repairs or service on an HVAC unit can be costly. You definitely want to do your research and make sure that the company you are hiring has the proper licensing and insurance. Insurance will protect you, the homeowner, in the case that something goes wrong during the service. Licensing insures that the company you choose has the proper knowledge, training and certifications to get the job done. Sparks Heating and Air provides a copy of our Kentucky Master HVAC License and General Liability Insurance to every customer who is installing a new unit, and it is available upon request to any service or maintenance customers as well. Make sure your HVAC company can do the same!
Service First Company- Many customers will find that when they call an HVAC company to come out and take a look, a lot of times they will be immediately pressured into buying a new system, even if their existing system is not very old. Rumor has it that some HVAC companies don't even check the age of the existing unit before starting in on their sales pitch. What you want to make sure of is that you choose an HVAC company that is "service first" oriented. At Sparks Heating and Air, we always want to diagnose the issue first and THEN present the customer with the options for repairing the unit. Of course, we are always happy to provide free estimates to our customers, but we will never pressure you into purchasing anything that you don't need.
Customer Service- Customer service, some would say, has gone by the wayside in this day and age. That can be true in a lot of industries, but fortunately, customer service is still alive and well in most HVAC businesses. An HVAC unit is a HUGE investment, sometimes once in a lifetime. You definitely want to be confident that the company you choose will be with you for the long haul. Whether it is showing a customer how to use their new thermostat, coming back to change the filters for a customer who can't get under the house, or taking the time to walk a customer through how to warranty register their new equipment, make sure that you choose a company who is not afraid to provide good customer service to their homeowners!
Of course, there are a ton more things that you should look for when choosing an HVAC company, but these are just a few of the things that we think are the most important! If you have any questions, give us a call anytime at (859) 771-1286!
